Pirate Consoles - Retrohead
Pirates and clones are viewed by some as a bit of a blight on the games industry.
Here at RH we think they are fun.

We don't aim to go into any great depth about each console we simply wish to share with
you a few pictures of the clones that are out there.

As copyright falls off of the original technology it is quite legal to copy older consoles.
However some of the clones were sold on the Asian and Eastern Block markets whilst copyright
was very much alive. The Dendy console on the left was the only way folks
in the good old USSR ever got to play Nintendo games.
The games were smuggled in to the country but the console was legal to buy.
Nintendo were powerless to act against Dendy as international copyright law was meaningless
in the old communist Russia.
The most clones are of NES and SNES consoles, although the SEGA Mastersystem and
Megadrive were also favourite

Dendy Famicom pirate (Russian Pirate).

Check this one out. This is the Advance Boy. Not only is the console
a direct rip off of the GBA it also rips off the PS1 for its controller

The Screen plays a very lame LCD game but NES cartridges fit
into the rear and the whole thing connects to your TV.

The light gun is for NES enabled light gun games a la Duck Hunt.

Sweet...........

Ever heard of ZOGA, me either. Check this really unimaginative clone out.
Yes it is a Megadrive Rip off. It sold on the Malaysian market and they even copied the Sega logo.

The Cyber Boy is another NES rip.

Features a dreadfull Tetris style LCD game but has a 26 game
NES Multicart.

Yet again the pirates have plundered Sony for the PS1 style
controller.

You have got to laugh..haven't you!

This is my current favourite. It is the Chitendo Vii believe it or not.
If this wasn't made in China, Japan would invade I think.
It is actually a games machine in its own right. With its own
games. It does use motion sensing technology. Only available in China so if you are going to the
Olympics, buy one and let us know. Something tells me that there
are some disloyal workers in the Nintendo factory.
